An ancient legend says that Perseus was given the task of killing Medusa (a terrifying creature from Greek mythology) and the Gods, in order to help him with his task, gave the hero a shield that was as shiny as a mirror, a helmet that made him invisible, and a diamond sword. Thus armed, he went to Medusa’s home and thanks to the shield which protected him from her petrifying gaze; he was able to cut off her head. As the legend would have it, the blood which flowed out of her ended up in the sea, transforming the marine plants into coral.
Our jewellery is created from famous Mediterranean corals: the red coral from Sardinia and the white coral from Santa Maria di Leuca. The most prized craftsmanship of corals such as the carving of cameos was developed at Torre del Greco, near Naples.
